Class 10: Guide for AR and Case Study

Soumya Sir's Physics Class MASTER GUIDE Assertion-Reasoning & Case Studies
PART 1: Hacking "Assertion-Reasoning" 💡

Don't guess. Follow this exact 3-step algorithm to find the right option.

STEP 1: Check Truth Independently
Ignore the relationship. Just ask: Is Statement A true? Is Statement R true?

If any statement is False, you are lucky! Answer is C or D immediately.
⬇ If BOTH are True, proceed to Step 2 ⬇
STEP 2: The "BECAUSE" Bridge
Read the sentences like this:
"Statement A ... BECAUSE ... Statement R".
⬇ Does it make sense? ⬇
OPTION (A)
Yes! The "Because" makes sense.
(Correct Explanation)
OPTION (B)
No! Both are facts, but they aren't linked.
(Not Explanation)
Example to Try:
(A): Fuse is placed in series with the device.
(R): Fuse consists of a wire with low melting point.

Test: "Fuse is in series BECAUSE it has low melting point." -> Does NOT make sense.

(It is in series because it needs to stop current). So, Answer is (B).
PART 2: Cracking "Case Studies" 🔍
RULE #1: Read Questions FIRST Do not waste 5 minutes reading the long paragraph first. Read the 4 questions at the bottom. usually, 3 out of 4 questions can be answered without the paragraph just using your theory knowledge.
RULE #2: The "Graph" Trap If the case study has a Graph or Table, the answer is usually hiding *inside* that data.
Example: "At what voltage does the device break?" -> Look at the peak of the graph.
RULE #3: Stick to the Syllabus Sometimes the paragraph talks about advanced things (like "Optical Fibers"). Don't panic. The questions will still be about basic "Total Internal Reflection" which you know.
PART 3: Exam Vocabulary ⚠️
"Justify your answer"
Means: Write the Formula or the Law name. (Don't write a story).
"Draw a labeled diagram"
Means: Arrows on rays and current are MANDATORY. No arrows = Zero marks.
"Variable Resistor" vs "Resistor"
Check if the symbol has an arrow across it.
"Screen"
If a question mentions a "Screen", the image MUST be Real. (Virtual images cannot be caught on a screen).
